Why should I spay or neuter my pet?

The most important reason is to control the population of unwanted pets. You may be able to find homes for your puppies or kittens. However, the people that obtain your animals may have otherwise adopted and saved the life of an animal at the local humane society. There are many health benefits to neutering and spaying your pet as well. For example, you can significantly reduce the chance of your female dog develping mammary cancer by spaying her at an early age and you can greatly reduce the chance of your male dog developing prostatic disease by neutering him at a young age. Please feel free to contact us for further information on this subject.

My Dog Frequently Gets Ear Infections. Can I Buy Antibiotic Drops Without Having My Dog Examined?

From a distance most ear infections in dogs look similar. When examined with an otoscope by a Veterinarian they can look quite different. The appearance of the ear canal debris under the microscope is also important for an accurate diagnosis. Since the true goal is to cure the immediate problem and to prevent recurrences it is usually essential to examine the patient. This is best way to be sure the pet has as few painful, itchy relapses as possible. For further information check "Otitis externa" in the Pet Health section of our website.
