EDUCATION: Ontario Veterinary College 1994

PETS: DOG: Charlotte (Frenchie) & GRAND-DOG: Lewis (Frenchie), CATS: Panda and Blackjack, GUINEA PIG: Pistachio, TURTLE: Timmy

Dr. Peters especially enjoys working with ‘pocket pets’ like rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, and chinchillas. She is one of the main veterinarians that helps care for the local wildlife.  Injured and orphaned raccoons, skunks, possums, foxes, squirrels, and even beavers in our community are lucky to find a safe haven at the charitable association called: Urban Wildlife Care.  Dr. Peters helps their volunteers to nurse these animals back to health so that they can be safely released when they are strong enough.

Dr. Peters remembers her challenges as a student when applying to the Veterinary Medicine Program. In turn, she continues to offer help and mentorship to other hopeful veterinary students who are currently seeking admission to the Veterinary Medicine Program at the University of Guelph. She continues to work with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario as a Peer Medical Record Reviewer.

Her house is like a little zoo! Her own lucky guinea pig, Pistachio, enjoys her spacious enclosure she created out of a refurbished TV wall unit, complete with 6 levels, interior lighting, ramps and a ‘walk out lower level’ to an exercise pen! Timmy the turtle is spoiled with his custom-made 1500 gallon outdoor pond that she created, where he spends the summer basking in natural sunlight, complete with a 3-tiered waterfall!

As recent ’empty-nesters’, she and her husband have  become active members of several local Pickleball Leagues.  They enjoy the game, the exercise, and especially the new friends that they have made! If you haven’t tried Pickleball… be careful because it is addicting!
